Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment system that uses plastic aligners to improve the position of your teeth and jaw. The see-through aligners fit snugly over your teeth and blend in with your smile.
What’s more, they’re removable, so you can continue to eat your favorite snacks, including nuts, seeds, and fruit slices.
Dr. Popli and the team use Invisalign to treat various alignment issues, including:
You might also benefit from treatment with Invisalign if you have visible gaps between your teeth.
Before prescribing Invisalign, Dr. Popli conducts an oral exam and takes a series of X-rays. If he determines your teeth or jaw are out of alignment, he moves forward with treatment.
First, Dr. Popli uses the iTero® intraoral scanner to take digital impressions of your mouth. He uploads your scans to a computer-design program and develops a custom care plan.
After finalizing your plan, Dr. Popli explains the treatment process. Then, he sends your scans to a dental laboratory that designs and manufactures your first set of Invisalign aligners.
During treatment, you visit the office every two or three weeks and transition into a new set of aligners. Each new set puts mild pressure on your teeth and jaw, moving them into the optimal position.
Treatment with Invisalign takes anywhere between 6-12* months. To ensure positive results, Dr. Popli recommends wearing your aligners for 20-22 hours a day, only removing them to brush and floss or to eat a meal or snack.
Be sure to attend each of your Invisalign check-ups and carefully follow Dr. Popli’s instructions. If your aligners feel too tight or loose, let the team know and they can make adjustments as necessary.
Yes. Invisalign aligners are like other orthodontic appliances in that they collect plaque, food particles, and bacteria.
To keep your aligners clean, Dr. Popli recommends rinsing them a few times a day with tap water and brushing them with a soft-bristle toothbrush at night. For more extensive cleanings, ask the team about Invisalign cleaning crystals.
