I have a MAJOR fear, IRRATIONAL fear, TREMENDOUS fear of Dentists and ESPECIALLY their tools. Even the sight of them makes me break out into a cold sweat. Most recently I had been searching for a Dentist - because I really, really needed one. 1) I had not gone in 3 years (yes, I know, let the lectures ensue), 2) I had a serious pain in my lower left molar 3) I wanted to make sure I didn't have additional potential cavities, and 4) I was WAY overdue for a teeth cleaning (by about 3 years!). I polled my fellow yelpers, I did the due diligence, I asked all my friends - and I came up with Dr. Popli. Why? Because he uses a LASER instead of a drill and I just KNEW I had a cavity. What a novel idea! The noise of the drill is half my fear! To sum it up for you briefly - he was extremely caring and patient with my fear and even told me some stories about himself, he showed me tons of pictures and charts (essentially scaring me into going every 6 months), and he explained everything (very carefully) that I need to have done. Meanwhile, I have a cracked tooth from clenching, a broken filling that needs a cap, and some major tooth cleaning to endure. And I'm not nearly as afraid as I would usually be, but of course Valium helps that
