Bleaching/Whitening
Tooth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the color of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile.

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of most patients, there are a number of ways to whiten teeth. The most popular method is using a custom-made tooth whitening tray system that will whiten teeth dramatically. This method usually takes between 7-14 applications at home for 15-30 minutes each day, depending upon the type of stain. A faster result may be obtained if bleaching is done using the ZOOM!™ whitening system in the office. This process utilizes a powerful bleach mixture under a proprietary light to speed up the process. If you would like to schedule an appointment for ZOOM!™ teeth whitening, please contact our office today.
Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to consider the need to replace any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching, so they will match the newly bleached teeth.
Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up maybe needed every several years, and more so if you smoke or drink coffee, tea, or wine.
No matter what the ads say, there is no over-the-counter tooth bleaching system that is as safe and effective as the teeth whitening methods that are custom tailored to your unique needs by your dentist. Most whitening toothpastes do not contain the same active ingredients found in dental office systems.
